I did not go into the bathrooms, we used our trailer for the short stay. There was a moose along the river in the morning. I understand it gets busy in the summer but we went late May/early June and it was sparse. The River was flooding as well. A sight to see!
Electric sites not marked on map, at office, or at sites. REALLY stupid.
Paths to restrooms not maintained
Roads poorly marked. No problem unless arriving after dark. Then it is a BIG problem.
Best loop off limits to customers.
Nice views
We were supposed to stay just 2 nights but we wound up staying for 7 nights. It snowed most of our stay which made the campground a winter wonderland... Lots of moose in the CG and we even heard 2 males locking horns during the night! Perfect CG for home base for trips into Yellowstone... staff is top notch and restrooms were clean, cold, but clean
Staff doesn't know much about what they offer
While the location is awesome, great wildlife, views etc., the campground is a little beat up. Roads to the campground are great, but inside they are wore out. It is dry camping so at least they have bathrooms. It is hit or miss with how well maintained your site will be. Would definitely stay again.
In summary, potentially great facility if could replace entire management team with competent people
Flat parking
The location and price are the best thing about this park. If you're dry camping it's relatively affordable but gets MUCH pricier for a site with hook up. However, there are a couple NFS campgrounds right up the road that are much cheaper if you're dry camping. I'd recommend trying those first. They knew we had a 24' travel trailer and assigned us a spot barely big enough for it. It was nearly impossible to back it in as the site was at a 90 degree angle from the narrow one way road. We couldn't even park it at an angle because they only leave just enough room to park your truck and trailer side by side in the site. No room for parking on the road. This also meant any time anyone was pulling in or out of their site it caused a long traffic jam because the loops were all narrow one ways and the sites were hard to get in and out of. The picnic table is behind your parking set up so you walk in between your truck and trailer to get in and out. Don't even think about having truck door and trailer door open at the same time. No soap in the bathrooms. No showers. Overall not worth the price. Either shell out more for the nicer campgrounds or go to one of the NFS campgrounds.
Campground map virtually worthless
Pros
Cons
Individual sites well marked
We stayed there the first night on our way to Yellowstone. It was green and beautiful and quiet. We liked it so much we decide to stay over again our last night from Yellowstone. Unfortunately there had to be that one guy there with a horribly noisy generator. I believe if there would have been a decibel level limit that one would've breached it. Our neighbors ran theirs a little bit and you could hardly hear it. So I wish they had a loop where high level generator users would go.
